The history of the brand is quite nebulous. Recently it was revealed that it was acquired by El Rey del Mundo in 1936. Apparently the existence of a certain Marquis Rafael Gonzalez is pure commercial legend. In 1940 the brand took the name of Flor de Rafael Gonzalez. Absent from the market for a few years, it reappeared in 1965. The cigars in the range have a mild character.
